Salty Christians

(1) And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: (2) And he opened his mouth, and taught them saying, Matthew 5:1-2

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost is savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Matthew 5:13

Salt is used to flavor food. Salt is also used on roads and bridges to melt snow and ice. Why did Jesus use salt as a reverence to Christians in this matter? One of the main effects of salt is that it causes thirst. Jesus used salt here, I feel, because Christians need to be salt to a thirsty world. We should live our lives in such a way that the world. But, so often, we live like the world. That is when the salt has lost its savour. If we are to make the world thirst for Jesus, we as Christians should make Jesus number one in our lives.

Persecution With a Godly Heart

(1) And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain:and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: (2) And he opened his mouth and taught them saying,

(10) Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for their’s is the kingdom of heaven. (11) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. (12) Rejoice and be exceeding glad: for so they persecuted the prophets which were before you. Matthew 5:10-12

These verses are dealing with suffering and slander. Throughout his ministry Jesus dealt with people that hated him. In spite of that, Jesus loved us so much that he willingly suffered for us. Soldiers beat him, spat on him, and mocked him. Then he suffered agony on the cruel cross.

Christians endure suffering as well, but remember the more suffer for doing God’s work, the more confident we can be sure that we are in God’s will. If we live right and we are in the center of God’s will, we are bound to ruffle some feathers somewhere. Whatever we do, or no matter how many feathers we ruffle, we still need to tell the world about Jesus and his Father’s love for them.

Pease with a Godly Attitude

And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And He opened his mouth saying: Matthew 5:1-2

Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9

The Bible tells us that Jesus taught us to be peacemakers. A peacemaker is defined as simply a person that makes peace. We meet different people everyday. Some of these people are looking for answers. Some aer facing difficult situations. As christians, we have the answers that many of these people need. With guidance from the Holy Spirit, and through study of God’s word. we can let God use us to help them. We can also choose to ignore them, but if we want to be peacemakers, we should follow Jesus’ example and help anyone we see in need.

Godly Attitude 6

Godly Attitude Of The  Heart

And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: and He opened his mouth saying: Matthew 5:1-2

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8

They say actions speak louder than words, and for Christians reactions speak even louder. Remember the world is like the little boy who sat watching the preacher nailing boards on his house. He was watching to see how the preacher would react when he hit his thumb. the world is watching Christians see how we react when we hit our thumbs, so to speak. Satan uses the ways of the world against us, but thank God, once we are saved Satan cannot touch our souls, only our testimony.

The Bible tells us about of Godly men and women that were pure in heart. Job and Joseph are a few that come to mind. Job was a man who had wealth, and a loving family. One day that was taking away from him. Joseph was loved greatly by his father, and one day he was sold into slavery by his own brothers. They both chose to put God first in their lives, and great adversity was turned into many blessing. We need to remember that we need to put God first when the world hits us on our thumbs.

Happy New Year

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 1 Corinthians 5:17

Most of us have made New Year’s resolutions at one time or another. There are all sorts of resolutions. to loose weight, to try to be a better person, to breake some bad habit, or to spend more time with family are just a few.

Some of us even make resolutions to pray more or to study our Bible more and then we begin to fade as the year goes on. We start with a lot of enthusiasm but then we become tired. Our entire year would be much better if we would start out with God in the proper place in our lives and end up with him still in the proper place.

You may not make resolutions but  as you enter the New Year make an increase effort to keep focused on God and his will.

We would like to wish each and everyone of you a Happy and Blessed New Year. Keep God first and the other resolutions will fall in place.

Jesus

A baby born in a manger, Born to the world a stranger, To save us from sin’s danger, Died on the cross, to save the lost. He rose on the third day, to prepare the way, that we might have life, to live with his Father on High.

We want to Wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and may God Bless you. We will not have a new devotional until after Christmas. Remember that Jesus is the reason.

ALWAYS SHOW MERCY

And seeing he multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them saying, Matthew 5:1-2

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Matthew 5;7

Mercy is defined as the act of showing compassion. The world is lacking in that department. I am sad to say, so are a lot of Christians. Throughout his ministry Jesus met different people and showed mercy on all of them. Christians are no different, we meet all kinds of people everyday. We need to follow Jesus’ example and always show mercy to a world that has forgotten how.
